What does "Sexaquark" mean?

Table of Contents

A sexaquark is a type of particle made up of six quarks. Quarks are the tiny building blocks that make up protons and neutrons, which are found in the nucleus of an atom. Normally, particles like protons are made of three quarks, but in certain special conditions, a combination of six quarks can form a new type of particle.

Researchers are interested in sexaquarks because they could help explain more about the stuff that makes up our universe, especially when looking for dark matter. Dark matter is a mysterious substance that is thought to make up a large part of the universe, but it cannot be seen directly.

Some theories suggest that a particular kind of sexaquark, called $uuddss$, could be created in laboratory experiments. This sexaquark could be stable enough to exist for a longer time, and scientists are looking for ways to produce it using special interactions between particles.

If found, sexaquarks could shed light on the strong forces that hold matter together and deepen our knowledge of particle physics.
