What does "Intention Recognition" mean?

Table of Contents

Intention recognition is the ability to predict what someone else plans to do. It is important for robots and automated helpers that work alongside humans, especially in places like factories or warehouses.

When a robot helps a human worker, it needs to figure out what the worker might want to do next. This can be tricky because there might be distractions or not enough clear information. To be truly helpful, the robot needs to gather information while also doing its own tasks. This method of combining these actions is known as active goal recognition.

Despite the challenges, intention recognition is key to making robotic assistants more effective and responsive in real-life situations.
